Current Faculty

Although each member of our faculty is qualified to teach in many areas of music not one of them teaches outside their specific area of expertise.  Each student is given the benefit of individual attention, tailored to each need and goal.  Each teacher lives in Hoboken, teaches in the comfort of their home studios and is an active participant in our varied community cultural life.  Performance in the five school marathon concerts per year is highly encouraged and gives the student poise and confidence needed to function in today’s hectic society with its varied demands.  In November we celebrate our 100th student concert.

THE PIANO FACULTY

Due to the high demand for piano teachers, we have a varied faculty to cover this need.

PHILLIP DIECKOW, the founder and director of the DSM, is also the Artist in Residence in Piano at the Stevens Institute of Technology.  His teaching schedule is filled.

JAMES REDCAY,  assistant director of the school, is not only an accomplished pianist and accompanist but is also a composer and his flexibility in this regard allows him to personally hand tailor a teaching program to each individual student.  He is currently majoring in composition and piano at New York University.

SOREN PACKER,  recently a music graduate of Indiana University, is a brilliant pianist and a patient and meticulous teacher.  An individual in his own right, his many years of study with Phillip Dieckow make him an excellent heir to his successful teaching methods.

PAUL VAZOPOLOS is a highly qualified pianist and teacher in the Bayonne area of New Jersey.  His years of study with Phillip Dieckow amply qualify him as a superior teacher for children from age five through adults.  He teaches out of his Bayonne home studio and presents his students in the four concerts a year in Hoboken with the Dieckow School of Music.

Since the remaining categories, voice, violin/viola and guitar have only one teacher each,  please click on any faculty name below for their backgrounds which also include the piano teachers’ bios.
